Motorola Device Management Application

THE ASK

With device integration as Motorolas highest priority an application for in field management would be required. This means every sensor, camera, microphone, radio and so on would be managed in one application allowing for full communication between device and user.

This application creates a hub for high value notifications informing our users of critical information on their equipment

REALIZATION

It was while designing the affordable body camera known as SI200 that we realized its complicated integration would require a management platform.

All video devices interact with each other and can be triggered by sensors to begin recording. Example: Speeding, lights/sirens or pulling a gun

Below are the original screens from SI200 that made it clear we needed an application that could handle the management for the full eco-system. Si200 was only able to manage sensors since they were directly related.

DESIGN

Utilizing mobile components from the Si200 BodyCamera application I jumped straight to high fidelity mockups.

DETAILS

The original inspiration was the SI200 application which could only handle sensor management. This new mobile application will allow our users to manage the entire Motorola eco-system during their shift. This shifts the user demand from the agency technology expert to the field user.

This opens the opportunity for push-notifications when critical information arises regarding any device.

VALIDATION

Being a support application my primary research was done with an internal research team who could expertly provide feedback on regulations. This includes how long certain tasks may take for a device and confirming that critical messages would be relayed appropriately through the device ecosystem.

DEVELOP

I passed off documentation to a team of developers to get this project live. I then maintained development support.
